Fearless Females- Day 12

March 12 — Working girl: Did your mother or grandmother work outside the home? What did she do? Describe her occupation.

No, my grandmothers did not work outside the home while they were raising children. My grandma, Violet Rivers Long, raised 9 children {she gave birth to 11, one died at birth and one died at age 2} My grandma, Mildred Day Davis, raised 5 children {she gave birth to 7, one died at birth and one died at age 2}. My Mom raised 6 children. She also babysat other children, when we were all grown; she worked at a restaurant in town, and later taught at a church school. She and Dad also owned a resale shop for a few years.
Grandma Davis sold McNess products and worked as a janitor at the elementary school with her second husband.
